In the middle of nowhere, my soul rising with the morning sun.
I’ve lived out of state for over a decade now, but my heart always yearns for home during the holidays. Today I’m soaking up the sage green dormant fields, golden grass bent in frosty breezes, and scrubby cedars standing like soldiers across hillsides. Filling my cup with family and friends. Snuggling under toasty blankets with my son’s toes poking into my ribs.
As 2016 comes to a close, I’m thankful I can step into the new year wrapped in familiar hearts, sights, sounds, and memories.
